SHOW & TELL: STUDENT EDITION
Show & Tell with a twist! On Tuesday May 28, NCE Media invite members and partners of the Media Cluster to Student Show & Tell: Explorations of new technology in the media, organized together with the University of Bergen.
Can the use of eye-tracking contribute with valuable insights for the media business? Is there a future for storytelling in VR and AR? Teachers and bachelor students at UiB present the results of systematic explorations of new technology started in January. It was all done in the new course "MIX202 Design for mediebruk» part of the BA in Media and Media Interactions Design, University of Bergen in Media City Bergen.
Part 1: Evaluations of visual design in journalism, based on eye-tracking and stress measurements (30 minutes).
Student groups have made evaluations of journalistic designs in VG, VG SnapChat, Peil (VG), Aftenposten, Bergens Tidende and NRK using state-of-the art biometric equipment.
In this session the projects are condensed and presented by teacher Frank Wisnes. Fredrik Jensen and Johanne Ågotnes, students in MA in Media and Interaction Design, UiB in Media City Bergen, were instrumental in the technical training with equipment from Noldus IT.
Part 2: Immersive storytelling with 360 video, spherical sound design and interactive functions made for HTC Vive (60 minutes).
Student groups have made immersive stories where you can enter a national romantic art work, get caught by an avalanche, be a murderer chased through the forest, and be surveilled through social credits in a Bergen dictatorship.
In this session we first get a short introduction by teacher PhD student Joakim Vindenes, and then there will be a live demo where audience members can experience the stories for themselves with explanations and support from the students. Teacher Zulfikar Fahmy and Audun Klyve Gulbrandsen, student in MA in Media and Interaction Design, were instrumental in the technical training in HTC Vive, storyboarding and sund design.
Show & Tell is our unformal, laidback arena, where you can meet other cluster members and learn about the latest innovations in the cluster. Food, snacks and drinks are on us!
When: May 28, 15-17.
