What
Transferring video on the net
Video is both high bandwidth and is required to be transferred in realtime without delay.
In addition, each user wants the video to be sent in the highest bitrate their link can
deliver, which means different bitrates for different users, which even can change
as the video is watched.
This makes video among the most demanding kinds of content to
transfer, and different approches have been tried for different uses over the years.
In this talk, I will present the challenges video transfer presents, and how they have
been solved for use cases ranging from video conferencing and digital cable-TV to modern
dynamic adaptable schemes like HLS and Mpeg-DASH.
