Online drama and real-time publishing have become an established "format", especially in Norway. The "First Wave" was fronted by the international success show SKAM, but what can we learn from the current "Second Wave" of such productions? What are the pros and cons of this way of telling stories? What expectations does the audience have? And, is it still possible to renew the format when the rules in the TV market has changed?

How do Netflix and the other FAANGS (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google) disrupt the TV drama market in general on an economic level, and what are the consequences for the production of the genre and the commissioning practices?
About John Elllis
John Ellis is professor of Media Arts at Royal Holloway London University and professor II at Department of Information Science and Media Studies. Ellis has a distinguished career both as an academic and as a leading television producer. He produced around 100 documentaries through the independent company Large Door, and has written a number of standard texts in television and media theory and history. Ellis has headed several UK and European research projects. Ellis is currently project leader of the ERC ADAPT project on technological adoption and adaptation in broadcast TV.
About Vilde Schanke Sundet
Vilde Schanke Sundet (PhD) is a researcher in film and television studies at the Inland Norway University (Lillehammer) and a guest researcher on digitalisation and media policy at the Institute for Social Research (Oslo). She has done research on the drama series Skam and Lillyhammer, and on the Norwegian commercial television sector, and her forthcoming book is titled: Television Drama in the Age of Streaming - Transnational Strategies and Digital Production Cultures at the NRK (Palgrave, 2019).
