What
In the last decade, the creative industries have been cemented as a cornerstone of the Welsh economy, stimulating growth and developing at a pace. Cardiff has developed a reputation for its creative might and excellence - becoming known as a place where ideas thrive. Since 2019, the Clwstwr programme has been stimulating research and development (R&D) in the screen and news sectors – investing more than £3 million in 120 innovation projects to create new products, services and experiences. Clwstwr Director Professor Justin Lewis will share more about the transformative impact of Clwstwr and will be joined by those who have been at the forefront of reimagining the provision of news.
Justin Lewis is Director of the media innovation programmes, Clwstwr and media.cymru. Justin has conducted research with many different creative organisations, including the BBC, the BBC Trust, Channel 4, the Guardian, as well as UK and European Research councils. He has published over 100 books, journal articles and chapters about a wide range of media and cultural issues. He is co-founder of Creative Cardiff, Chair of the Independent Community News Network and Chair of one of the UK Government Research Excellence Framework Panels.
