During the lead-in to Nordic Media Festival (Nordiske Mediedager), the Norwegian Editors' Association and the Norwegian Media Businesses' Association hosted their annual Leadership conference. IBM's Director of Innovation for Watson, Thomas Anglero opened the conference and presented the company's view of how AI and Machine Learning will play an ever more important part in the media industry: Over 3 billion dollars is poised to being invested in AI and media technology.
– This is not a crisis moment, this is an aha moment, Anglero said.
– Don't panic. These platforms are here to help you, he continued, cautioning the audience of editors and media business leaders to not overlook the next innovation, no matter where it comes from.
IBM is a key partner of the Norwegian Media Cluster, and has co-located its "knowledge, our people" together with other cluster members in the new, state-of-the art Media City Bergen campus.
Anglero concluded with a wake-up call to the more than 200 delegates from Norway's leading publishers and broadcasters:
– This is not future-based. This is happening right now! If we can help you, you will find us here at Media City Bergen - we would love to help!
