See what's happening in the Media Cluster this spring

Published 27.01.2021
We have some eventful and exciting months ahead in the Norwegian Media Cluster, filled with activities, seminars, workshops, and courses - See what's on the agenda this spring!

Members of the Media Cluster have plenty to look forward to this spring, as our calendar is full of upcoming events! On the agenda are well-known activities such as Show & Tell, Tech Talks, AI Learn, AI Inspire, MCB Tech .21, and our Breakfast Meetings, but we are also introducing several new concepts this year.

The MCB JoLab project will be upped with even more events, including more digital storytelling events, Fireplace Chats, and a new forum for data journalists in all member companies. We will be hosting several more AI seminars and workshops, 5G seminars, media tech seminars on topics as virtual studios and NDI, and seminars regarding funding opportunities, in addition to many more exciting events and workshops. The majority of our activities will take place in Bergen, but we will also strengthen the cluster's presence in Oslo and Stavanger by both hosting several events there and by being present on a regular basis in both cities, as soon as the Covid restrictions lift.

We are truly looking forward to meeting you all again and to host physical networking arenas in Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo, and other locations throughout Norway. In the meantime, as the Covid-19 situation still imposes restrictions for travel and meeting, we will make an effort to stream as many as possible of our events, regardless of where they occur. This means that our hubs in Oslo, Bergen or Stavanger, or anywhere else in Norway and our international network, partners, and members can enjoy the events and participate in the conversations.

See an outline of all the planned activities in the Media Cluster this spring below! Note that there may occur some changes to the schedule.

Some highlights to look forward to

Workshops with Henk van Ess

We have the pleasure of hosting two separate online breakfast meetings with the international thought leader in social media and online journalism, Henk van Ess. On 9 February, we invite you to join us and van Ess for a two-hour workshop where you'll work with visual search, more specifically how to find a hidden story by looking at just one Facebook cover picture. The second workshop, on 23 February, van Ess will look at how to verify during Corona and beyond and how to fix the bias in Google.

The events are open to all and free for members of the Media Cluster. Note that only a limited number of tickets are available. Target group: Editors, journalists, data journalists, and techies.
Sign up for the Visual Search workshop here, and the Verification workshop here.

Mediatech on Stage

On 9 February, 19 promising deep tech Startups and Scaleups will pitch their solutions for today’s most prominent media challenges at the MediaMotorEurope event; Mediatech on stage. Sign up to meet the Startups and Scaleups, and to hear more about misinformation and fake news, accessibility and inclusion, human-machine interaction, protection of personal data, and transition towards a data-driven media 4.0 market.

The event is open for all to join, sign up here.
