Nordic 5G Consortium

Nordic 5G Consortium facilitates innovation, development, and commercialization of 5G services for content production. We also engage in shaping 5G use and policies across the Nordics.

Nordic 5G Consortium is a cluster of Nordic media companies working to enhance the broadcast industry in developing next generation services based on 5G technology. The Consortium is run by Media City Bergen, a global leader in media technology and innovation.

The Consortium is working for best possible conditions for the media industry targeting the next generation media services, working with governments and organizations to provide insights and resources, such as frequencies, in order to bring media production and distribution to the next level. We also support the industry sector in the development of new products and services and to promote the industries needs to partner and Governments.

5G is now a reality and deploying, the potential to change the industry is huge. 5G promises enormous capacity, reliability, ultra-low latency and high speed. This will open up a wide range of opportunities and possibilities for broadcasters, publishers, telecoms and consumers.

5G offers a lot of interesting services for the media industry but will also converge other industries into the media playground. It has the inclination and potential to disrupt the media industry, as we know it. In short term, production and distribution, in long term the whole business and value chain.

The Nordic 5G Consortium (N5GC) is a member-based organization that focuses on innovation, digitization, automation, efficiency, and community building in the Nordic countries. We welcome all types of organizations, across all sectors of media and technology to be a N5GC Member.
