The Nordic Media Days is the premium media festival in the Nordic region. Over three days, the festival features 50 unique sessions and brings together 2000 media professionals focusing on content, opportunities, innovation and future prospects for the industry. The festival provides top international and national speakers, executives, journalists, editors and innovators from all parts of the media landscape to share, learn and cross-pollinate ideas and experience with a line up of fellow journalists, users and decision makers. All major Scandinavian media companies are present at the conference, in addition to approximately 60 journalists covering the event. The Minister of Culture is conducting the official opening every year. The Nordic Media Days takes place in scenic Bergen, Norway. Founded in 1988, the festival is a non-profit foundation. In addition to the main conference, The Nordic Media Days organize a seperate program aimed at high school students: "NMD Young” gives youth an opportunity to increase their competence and gain access to the media industry. The festival culminates in the Gullruten TV-Award show, the Norwegian equivalent of the Emmy Awards.
